KCR Announces Engineering Academic Year To Begin From 17th of August, Decision On Schools Reopening Soon

K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, would soon decide upon the reopening of schools and educational institutions in Telangana.

Recently on the 16th of July, the Telangana Chief Minister announced the academic year for engineering colleges across Telangana from the 17th of August 2020.

The decision was taken after conducting a meeting with the State Education Ministry officials on the 16th of July.

Mr. Rao said, “The academic year of (the) engineering course will commence from August 17. The Government will soon take the final decision on when should schools in the State should open, how teaching should take place and other related issues, after examining the Centre Guidelines, methods adopted by other states.” He also added, “The Government is preparing to combine entrance tests schedule so that the students will not lose their precious academic year. The Government will take the responsibility of further education of orphaned girls who are studying up to 10th standard in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya. A policy decision in this regard will be announced shortly.”

In addition, the State Government decided to follow the guidelines of the UGC and AICTE for the conduct of degree, Post Graduate, Engineering final year students.

Whereas, students of other classes and 1st and 2nd year college would be promoted to the next class without any exams.

In regard to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, KCR said the Education department is preparing for a long term strategy to strengtheng overnment institutes in the state. 

Mr. Rao said, “If the Government Educational institutions are strengthened, people will get the benefit and there will be a full stop of any exploitation in the sector.”

During the meeting with the education department official, Mr. Rao asked the educational institutions to conduct a workshops and demonstrate the measures which would be necessary for students.

Mr. Rao said, the management should include topics like measures to upgrade the standards of education in the state.

However, a decision regarding the schools and the other degree colleges would be taken after a meeting with education department.

Mr. Rao instructed the education department officials to conduct a meeting with educationists and experts to get their opinions on reopening of school.

The meeting dates and details are yet to be announced.
