On the 5th of May, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government is conducting a Cabinet meeting with the State ministers. The meeting started at 2:00 P.M., at Pragati Bhavan, Hyderabad, Telangana.
K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, chaired the meeting and is scheduled to discuss the situation due to the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 and the implementation of the lockdown in Telangana.
The Statewide lockdown 2.0 is yet to end in Telangana, unlike other state governments, Telangana extended the lockdown 2.0 till the 7th of May and would consider the lockdown 3.0 from the 8th of May.
As per the guidelines of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) the State Government could allow relaxations in the implemented 3rd lockdown for Green Zones in the State. However, the final call would be taken by the State Government.
Speaking about the discussions during the Cabinet meeting, the Telangana Government is likely to follow international experts on Coronavirus, which suggests a total 70 day duration lockdown. In regard to this observation, KCR is likely to announce an extension of the lockdown till the 28th of May.
In addition, the TRS Government announced strict implementation of the lockdown rules and social distancing and directed police officials and concerned authorities to handle the situation.
The areas which are under strict supervision are Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal, Malkajgiri and Vikarabad. These 4 districts recorded 66 % of the total cases of the Coronavirus infection in the State.
Telangana reported a total of 1,085 positive cases of the Novel Coronavirus with 25 fatalities and 585 recoveries till date.
