BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) highlighted the 12-year journey of the Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes, saying they have supported 16.78 lakh poor families with financial aid of ₹16,375 crore.
KTR recalled that the schemes were launched under former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to help poor families manage marriage expenses. He said the initiative was inspired by the struggles of tribal father Banothu Keemanayak, who had lost his savings kept for his daughter’s marriage.
KTR said the assistance of ₹1,00,116 was aimed at reducing the financial burden on parents and helping prevent child marriages.
He also criticised the Congress government, alleging that it was weakening the schemes. KTR further alleged that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had not fulfilled the Congress promise of providing one tola of gold along with the Kalyana Lakshmi assistance.
