Former minister T Harish Rao has asked the BRS student wing (BRSV) to highlight what he called the Telangana government’s failure to release pending fee reimbursement funds.
Speaking at a meeting with BRSV leaders in Siddipet on Thursday, Harish Rao alleged that the Congress government had failed to properly implement the fee reimbursement scheme.
He said the previous BRS government spent Rs 19,500 crore on fee reimbursement. In contrast, he claimed the government led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had released only Rs 400 crore towards the scheme.
Harish Rao also recalled the Congress government’s promise of a Rs 5 lakh Vidya Bharosa card for students. He said Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka had promised to release pending funds within two months, but claimed no action had followed.
He alleged that the delay had affected SC, ST, BC and other backward students.
Harish Rao asked BRSV leaders to take the issue to villages and towns across Telangana and highlight what he described as the government’s failures.
