Liquor Shops Open In Telangana With Enhanced Prices

After the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) approved to open liquor shops in Telangana, the shops are all set to open with an enhanced prices of alcohol.  

Liquor shops in the State would open from 10:00 A.M., to 6:00 P.M., from the 6th of May.

The State Government in order to generate revenue from these liquor shops revised the prices by a 16 % hike.   While 16 % price increase on imported alcohol, 11 % has been increased on cheap liquor, that is domestic liquor and Rs. 30 on beer bottles of any size.

Rs. 30 hike on beer bottles.

Rs. 40 on a bottle of Domestic liquor.

Rs. 80 on domestic liquor full bottle.

Rs. 120 on a full bottle of premium liquor.

Rs. 160 on full bottle of Scotch.

The decision to do so was taken during a Cabinet meeting scheduled on the 5th of May.  K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, discussed, opening of liquor shops, lockdown guidelines, extension of the lockdown, relaxations and the ongoing situation of the Novel Coronavirus in the State.

Mr. Rao said, “Social distancing norms to be followed in front of liquor stores. Bars, pubs and clubs will continue to be shut.  Any violation of physical distancing at liquor shops will attract action.”  He further added, “2,200 liquor shops will open except 15 shops in containment zones.  People not maintaining social distancing will have to bear consequences. If there’s no mask, no liquor will be sold.”

The Red Zones, Hyderabad, Malkajgiri-Medchal, Suryapet, Rangareddy, Warangal Urban and Vikarabad.

The lockdown in Telangana is proposed to end on the 29th of May, after the Telangana Government extended the lockdown for another 12 days more than the Central Government.
