Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy directed the authorities to resolve long pending Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS) files. Government set a deadline of clearing filed by March 31, 2024.

The then Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) lead state government introduced the scheme on August 31, 2020 and received around 25.44 lakh applications from the public for regularization of their plots in unauthorized layouts.

The scheme failed to get momentum and the majority of applications were pending with the Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP).  Revanth Reddy recently reviewed the scheme and passed necessary orders to the authorities.

Authorities estimated that the government will get Rs. 6 crores income from this scheme. Hyderabad Metro Development Authority and Municipal corporations will get Rs.4000 crores and panchayats will get Rs. 2000 crores with layout regularization.

State government estimated that the regularization of layouts will help increase the sale proceedings which will get them to earn more revenue through stamps and registration charges.
