Hyderabad: Retired IPS officer and former DGP Mahendar Reddy is likely to be appointed as the chairman of Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC). Steering committee appointed by the state government suggested two more candidates along with Mahendar Reddy for the chairman post. Mahendar has the highest chances of becoming chairman of TSPSC.
TSPSC faced the ire of job aspirants with a row of paper leakage incidents reported during the BRS government. CM A Revanth Reddy has decided to streamline the job recruitment process and hence started moves to strengthen the TSPSC. SOurces said that Revanth Reddy had decided to appoint a retired IAS or IPS as chairman of the board.
A total of 50 applications were received for the chairman post and 321 applications were received for the TSPSC board member posts. Steering committee headed by chief secretary Shanta Kumari, Law secretary Tirupati and the General Administration department secretary verified the applications on Monday. Names of Mahendar Reddy, a retired IAS officer and another IPS officer were shortlisted for chairman position and only Mahendar Reddy belongs to Telangana.
State government sent the file for approval of state governor Tamilisai Soundara Rajan.
