The Telangana Police registered a case against leaders of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) for violating Model Code of Conduct (MCC) imposed by the Election Commission of India.
Notably, on the 21st of October, the K. Chandrashekar Rao led TRS took 300 people from by poll bound Munugode constituency to Yadadri temple for darshan. TRS Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) Mr. A. Jeevan Reddy had provided transportation and other facilities to 300 persons to visit the temple town of Lord Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy and offer prayers. Moreover, all the 300 people promised to vote in favour of the TRS in the upcoming Munugode by election.
The Election Commission has taken serious note of this and ordered the State Police to register a case for violating the election norms. Mr. Vikas Raj, the State Chief Electoral Officer asked police booked cases against the TRS leaders. The case was registered under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code ( IPC) as the expenses were said to be in the name of TRS contesting candidate for Munugode by election, Mr. K. Prabhakar Reddy.
Notably, the political parties like the TRS, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) the Indian National Congress and other independent candidates in the fray are making all efforts to woo voters in Munugode. Furthermore, the Munugode by election is scheduled to be held on the 3rd of November and the results would be announced on the 6th of November.
