In Telangana, the rulingTelangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government and the opposition Indian National Congress (INC) party are staging protests as a part of the “Bharat Bandh.”

Called by the farmers of Haryana and Punjab, the nationwide strike or Bharat Bandh is being held in several parts of India today, the 8th of December.

Political parties in Telangana also showed their support to farmers protesting against three farm bills introduced by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Central Government.

The Telangana State Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar and the TRS leader in the Lok Sabha Nama Nageswara Rao, attended a sit in protest organised at Khammam.

The State Women and Child Welfare Minister Satyavati Rathod and the Endowments Minister A. Indrakaran Reddy, also participated in the protests at Mahabubabad and Nirmal towns respectively.

The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka took part in a ‘rasta roko’ at Shamirpet.

In addition, the Telangana Jana Samiti (TJS) leader M. Kodandaram, the Communist Party of India (CPI) State Secretary Chada Venkata Reddy, his CPI Marxist (M) counterpart Tammineni Veerabhadram and activists of Left parties and the Left affiliated trade and other unions held a protest at Koti, Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, the TRS President and the Chief Minister of Telangana K. Chandrasekar Rao also supported the agitating farmers.

Mr. Rao said his party opposed the bills in the Parliament as they would harm the interests of the farmers. He further said, the ongoing agitation should continue till the farm bills are withdrawn.

Meanwhile, the Hyderabad police deployed a large number of police personnel across Hyderabad. The officers on field have been asked to stay alert to avoid any untoward incident.

Additional forces have been mobilised in the City with an intensified patrolling.

Five senior IPS officers of Hyderabad police are allocated in all the five zones of Hyderabad. They have been asked to move personally in the areas from 9: 00 A.M., onwards

The Additional Commissioner (Crimes) Shikha Goel, East Zone , the Additional Commissioner Traffic Anil Kumar, West Zone, the Joint Commissioner of Police Special Branch, Tarun Joshi, Central Zone, the Joint Commissioner of Police, C.C.S. Avinash Mohanty, North Zone, Commandant Murthy South Zone, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) and the Additional DCP C.S.W. Srinivas Reddy, Banjara Hills Division are on duty today.

The officers deployed for Bharat Bandh are requested to keep the Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad Anjani Kumar informed of all the developments.

Police alerted protestors, farmers and political parties’ cadres and warned of strict action against those indulging in forcible closure of commercial establishments and stoppages of roads.

The protest is still underway.
