Hyderabad: The proposed alignments for Rajdhani Metro Rail Phase II have come to light, with five out of six corridor plans nearing finalization. The Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for these five corridors are in their final stages. Covering a total distance of 116.2 km, the estimated cost of construction for the new metro lines is ₹32,237 crore.
After evaluating different routes to the airport, the Telangana Chief Minister approved the Shamshabad airport corridor from Nagole, passing through Chandrayanagutta and Arangar. Additionally, the metro line from the airport to the Fourth City via Rawirya and Outer Ring Road has been included in the second phase of the project. Hyderabad Airport Metro Rail MD NVSDD shared the updates on Sunday.
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) is currently preparing the Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP), which is essential for submitting DPRs to the central government for approval. The CMP will help in finalizing traffic estimates and project specifics. The initial estimate for the five corridors is around ₹24,237 crore.
NVSDD added that the DPRs for the five corridors, including the Fourth City line, will be submitted to the central government with state approval.
