Ramesh Chennamaneni, a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) filed a petition against the Central Government’s orders to cancel his Indian citizenship.
On the 21st of November, Ramesh filed a petition in the Telangana High Court (HC,) seeking to set aside the Government’s order of cancelling his citizenship.
On the 20th of November, the Home Ministry of India cancelled Ramesh’s citizenship as he is not eligible for it and holds German citizenship.
In his petition, Ramesh urged the Telangana High Court to dismiss the pending petitions filed against him regarding his citizenship and suspend the Central Government’s orders.
Ramesh Chennamaneni gave up his Indian citizenship in 1993 and took German citizenship. However, Ramesh said in 2009, he applied for Indian citizenship and was granted the same.
Ramesh Chennamaneni became the MLA of Telangana’s Vemulawada constituency after he won the 2018 Assembly elections.
