The State Election Commission (SEC) has imposed a ban on all exit polls for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) till the evening of the 3rd of December.

The decision was taken in the wake of re-polling of Old  Malakpet constituency or ward no. 26 division.

The poll would be held at some polling booths due to technical issues.

Meanwhile, re-polling will be held at two polling booths in Old Malakpet as the polling stopped with in-correct printing of CPI symbol on the ballot paper. The CPI demanded the EC to conduct to re-polling after they found the party’s symbol was wrongly printed.

A total of 1,122 candidates are contesting the municipal corporation election across 150 divisions, spread over four districts in Hyderabad.

In the last elections in 2016, the ruling TRS had won 99 seats, AIMIM had won 44, the BJP won four, the Congress won two and the Telugu Desam Party managed to get one seat.
