The Telangana Budget Session 2023-2024 is scheduled to begin from the 3rd of February.

According to a senior legislature official, the session would begin from the 3rd of February, whereas the State budge is expected to be presented on the 5th of February.  The official further said, the session of both the Assembly and the Council would commence at 12:10 P.M., on Friday,

In addition, the Legislature Secretary Mr. V. Narasimha Charyulu said, “The fourth meeting of the eighth session of second Telangana Legislative Assembly will commence at 12.10 PM on February 3 (sic.)”

The decision regarding the budget session and its timing was taken during a high level meeting.  Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, held the high level meeting on the 21st of January, Saturday, at Pragathi Bhavan.

According to sources, the State Budget is expected to be around Rs. 2.85 lakh crore to Rs. 3 lakh crore for 2023-2024.  In regard to this, Mr. T. Harish Rao led finance departments already started the Budget preparations a couple of weeks ago and obtained the necessary proposals from all government departments.

It is to be noted, the State Government is planning to release funds and other necessary budget funds for the growth of the Telugu State.  Telangana State under the leadership of Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao recorded 19% to 20% growth in the State owned Tax Revenue (SOTR,) the highest in the country.

The SOTR comprises both tax and non tax revenue, enabling the State to contribute to the nation’s growth.  As per estimations of the experts, Telangana lost nearly Rs. 15,000 crore of SOTR due to the Centre’s restrictions in 2022-2023.  However, the preliminary estimates indicate that Telangana continues to maintain a higher growth rate in the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) at more than 10% at constant prices.

Moreover, this is the last budget session held under the leadership of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, ahead of the State Assembly elections.  It is to be noted that the Telugu state of Telangana is scheduled to hold its assembly elections in 2023.

The political parties like the BRS, the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee and the Bharatiya Janata Party are eyeing to win the Telugu state and form their government.
