The District Congress Committees (DCCs) will conduct a three day meeting to discuss the upcoming Municipal elections in Telangana.

The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) appointed coordinators for the three day meeting. They also directed the DCC leaders to conduct meetings on the 13th, 14th and 15th of July, in the presence of the coordinators.

The vice presidents, general secretaries and secretaries of the TPCC will coordinate the meetings, during which, the issues of the INC will be discussed and strategies about the Municipal elections will be formulated.

The coordinators asked the DCC presidents to chalk down all the issues which could be a hurdle in the upcoming elections for the municipalities and the municipal corporations.

The TPCC vice presidents also asked the DCC to select potential candidates for the wards at the meeting, scheduled from the 13th of July to the 15th of July. If the DCCs have more than one candidate for a ward, the final decision about the candidate would be taken by the TPCC.

The decision to conduct a meeting came after the State Election Commission announced, the Municipal elections will be held anytime after the 15th of July.

However, some of the TPCC leaders suggested the TPCC to wait till the official dates are announced, as the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government will implement the new Municipal Act on the 19th of July.

However, the TPCC rejected these suggestions and directed the DCCs to conduct the meeting on the scheduled dates.

After the three day meeting, the TPCC leaders will meet next week and study the reports sent by the DCCs.

The TPCC subcommittee, which is responsible for the Municipal elections, will scrutinise the reports and give suggestions to the DCCs, with a strategy to win the polls.

The official dates of the Municipal elections are yet to be announced.

Stay tuned for further updates.
