The Telangana Government is soon going to collect samples of the suspected patients at their homes, avoiding the need for them to come to the hospital to test for the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 .
The decision was taken to avoid travel of the citizens of Telangana to hospitals and potentially risk the spread of the Novel Coronavirus.
The Medical and Health Department is developing a special vehicle with all kinds of facilities for conducting COVID-19 tests and collecting samples at home rather than in hospitals.
Initially, the service would be launched in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC.) However, an official announcement regarding the new launch of tests for COVID-19 at home, is yet to be made.
Till date, the GHMC administrative area has the highest number of COVID-19 infection cases.
According to sources, the decision of the State Government to conduct tests at home would help the medical department to collect more samples in less time, especially in all the containment zones of the GHMC.
Till the 21st of April, Telangana reported a total of 872 COVID-19 cases with 23 fatalities.
