Telangana Police Resort To Lathi Charge At Protesting BJP Activist In Munugode

In Telangana, the State Police resorted to a lathi charge at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activists and workers, protesting against the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS.)

Notably, in the Marriguda region of the Munugode Assembly Constituency, the BJP workers and activists staged a protest alleging many non local TRS activists and leaders are in Munugode.  The BJP said, the non local TRS leaders, permitted to stay in Munugode are influencing voters in the constituency.  Furthermore, the BJP leaders also demanded the release of Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar, the BJP President of the Telangana unit, who has been arrested by police at the Vijayawada Highway, on his way to Munugode.

Furthermore, due to the protest, the Telangana Police deployed a huge police force and controlled the situation.  The police also imposed section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) in Munugode, which restricts the gathering of more than two people.  In addition, the police also resorted to a lathi charge against the BJP workers.

Moreover, it is to be noted that the Munugode Assembly constituency is conducting the by election on the 3rd of November.  The polling started at 7:00 A.M., and would continue till 6:00 P.M., with the participation of approximately 2.41 lakh voters.

The results of the Munugode by election would be announced on the 6th of November.
