Telangana Power Demand Nears 20,000 MW, Bhatti Assures 24/7 Supply

Telangana’s peak electricity demand has climbed to nearly 20,000 MW, but the state government says it is maintaining 24/7 power supply to domestic consumers.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said the demand has risen from around 15,000 MW earlier. He said the increase has put extra pressure on the state’s power system.

Bhatti said hydel power generation has fallen by around 4,000 MW because low rainfall and high temperatures have reduced water levels in rivers and reservoirs.

Despite the fall in hydel generation, the government is meeting the rising demand through other sources, including thermal power. Bhatti said power agencies are working to maintain a continuous supply.

He also said all hydel power projects are ready to operate at full capacity when enough water is available.

Bhatti urged people to use water carefully. He warned that water shortages could become a concern if the state does not receive enough rain in the coming days.
