On the evening of the 8th of August, the Telangana Health Department released a media bulletin and updates about the Wuhan virus cases (Novel Coronavirus) situation in Telangana. According to the released bulletin, the State witnessed a total of 449 new cases, a slight fall compared to the previous day’s single day cases.
After reporting above 600 cases recently, the State reported below 600 cases in the past 3 days. Besides new cases, Telangana reported 2 fatalities and 623 recoveries from the deadly virus.
With this, Telangana now has 6,49,406 positive cases, of which 8,406 are active cases, 6,37,175 are recovered/discharged cases and 3,825 are deceased.
The new cases were confirmed after conducting COVID-19 tests of 79,231 samples, taking the cumulative total to 2.28 crores (2,28,22,154) till date.
According to sources, the highest number of cases have been reported from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) region, areas of Medchal Malkajgiri, Khammam, Warangal and Karimnagar. The GHMC reported the highest number of COVID-19 (73) cases in the past 24 hours, followed by Karimnagar (52.)
Meanwhile, with a slight fall in the COVID-19 cases, the active containment zones also decreased to 29 from the previous 31 with no micro containment zones in Hyderabad.
The recovery rate of Telangana is at 98.11% from the previous 98.09% and the fatality rate of COVID-19 at 0.58 %.
It is to be noted, of the total active cases, 79.80 % cases are asymptomatic, whereas, only 20.20 % are symptomatic.
Despite the fluctuation in the single day COVID-19 cases, since the past 1 month, Telangana’s single day cases are constantly below 800 and fatalities are in single digits. The massive control of the COVID-19 cases during the second wave was due to the imposed lockdown in May. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government imposed a one month lockdown to control the spread of the virus and after the effective lockdown, they lifted the restrictions.
In addition, after the lockdown ended, the TRS Government asked the citizens of Telangana to follow COVID-19 guidelines strictly and avoid unnecessary outings. On the 7th of August, the Telangana Health Department released a statement urging people to maintain social distance and follow all the COVID-19 norms, especially when cases of viral fever, pneumonia and other disease are being reported.
