Telangana Reports 453 New COVID-19 Cases With 2 Deaths And 591 Recoveries In 24 Hours

The Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Telangana, crossed 6.51 lakhs. On the evening of the 12th of August, the Telangana Health Department released a media bulletin and updates about the COVID-19 situation in Telangana.

According to the released bulletin, the State witnessed a total of 453 new cases, 29 cases less compared to the previous day’s single day cases of 482.

Besides the new cases, Telangana reported 2 fatalities and 591 recoveries from the deadly virus. Highlighting the recoveries, compared to previous below 500 recoveries in a day, on the 12th of August, Telangana reported a rise in recovery from the previous 455 recoveries.

With this, Telangana now has 6,51,288 positive cases, of which 8,137 are active cases, 6,39,456 are recovered/discharged cases and 3,835 are deceased.

It is to be noted, for the next day, the 13th of August, the active cases remained the same at 8,137. The new cases were confirmed after conducting COVID-19 tests of 89,674 samples, taking the cumulative total to 2.31 crores till date.

According to sources, the highest number of cases have been reported from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) region, areas of Medchal Malkajgiri, Khammam, Warangal and Karimnagar. The GHMC reported the highest number of COVID-19 (69) cases in the past 24 hours, followed by Karimnagar (55) and Medchal Malkajgiri with 25 cases.

Meanwhile, with a slight fall in the COVID-19 cases, the active containment zones is at 26 from the previous 25 with no micro containment zones in Hyderabad.

The recovery rate of Telangana also improved to 98.18% from the previous 98.16 % and the fatality rate of COVID-19 at 0.58 %.

It is to be noted, of the total active cases, 79.90 % cases are asymptomatic, whereas, only 20.10 % are symptomatic. In addition, a total of 1.61 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Telangana till date.
