Telangana Reports Nearly 3,000 Fresh COVID-19 Cases, Total Surges 1.11 Lakhs

On the 26th of August, Telangana reported the highest spike of 3,018 new cases of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.  

Of the total 3,018 cases, 28 cases are from Adilabad, 95 from Bhadradri Kothagudem, 475 from areas under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC,) and 98 from Jagtial.

Other districts where new COVID-19 cases were recorded are: 100 from Jagtial, 52 from Jangaon, 20 from Jayashankar Bhupalpally, 37 from Jogulamba Gadwal, 26 from Kamareddy, 127 from Karimnagar, 161 from Khammam, 11 from Komarambheem Asifabad, 56 from Mahabubnagar, 60 from Mahabubabad, 103 from Mancherial, 40 from Medak, 204 from Medchal Malkajgiri, 26 Mulugu, 38 from Nagarkurnool, 190 from Nalgonda, 14 from Narayanpet, 41 from Nirmal, 136 from Nizamabad, 85 from Peddapalli, 69 from Siricilla, 247 from Rangareddy, 61 from Sangareddy, 88 from Siddipet, 67 from Suryapet, 21 from Vikarabad, 46 from Wanaparthy, 61 from Warangal Rural, 139 from Warangal Urban and 44 positive cases from Yadadri Bhongir.

The new COVID-19 cases with 10 fatalities were reported through a media bulletin by the Telangana Health Ministry.

With the new updates, Telangana has 1,11,688 positive cases, of which 25,685 are active cases, 85,223 recovered/discharged cases and 780 deceased till date.

Of the total 25,685 positive patients, 19,113 patients are under home isolation while 6,572 are in institutional care.

Meanwhile, for the second consecutive day the Telangana Medical department conducted more than 50,000 tests in 24 hours.

According to the bulletin, between Sunday night and Monday night, Telangana conducted 61,040 COVID-19 tests of samples.

However, results of 1,176 samples are yet to come. So far, a total of 10,82,094 swab samples have been tested in the State.

Despite the recovery of nearly 1,060 people taking the total to 85,223 the recovery rate fell to 76.30 % from 77.47%.

However, Telangana’s recovery rate is higher than India’s recovery rate, which is at 75.92 %.

According to the health bulletin, the mortality rate in the State is 0.69 % from the previous 0.70 % while the countrywide mortality rate is 0.84 % from the previous 0.85 %.
