A delegation of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) now named as the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is in Delhi, to submit a copy of a resolution to the Election Commission of India (ECI.)
The TRS delegation led by Mr. B Vinod Kumar, the Vice Chairman of the Telangana State Planning Board, met the ECI officials. They submitted the resolution regarding the registration of the new name, the BRS as the national party. During the meeting, the TRS delegation and Mr. Vinod Kumar requested the ECI to freeze a car symbol to the BRS once it gets the national party status.
As per the ECI rules, any political party can register with the ECI, but the allocation of any symbol depends on rules of the ECI, especially on the winning number of Member of Parliament (MP) seats and 6% vote share throughout the country.
Meanwhile, although Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana and the President of the TRS announced the name change, an official national party status would take time. According to the ECI sources, the change of name from the TRS to the BRS would take four weeks from now.
Furthermore, as of now, the new national party, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi would expand itself across India, with initial operations in Delhi, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
On the occasion of Dussehra, the 5th of October, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao officially launched the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRs) and announced to enter national politics.
The national party was launched with the agenda of entering national politics and to stand as a strong opposition against the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Notably, the biggest announcement of the regional Telugu party came at a time when Telangana is set to conduct the Munugode by election on the 3rd of November. Furthermore, the Telugu State is also gearing up for the State Assembly elections in 2023.
