Egypt: Yet, another tragic case where a baby is born with only one eye, in the middle of his forehead and without a nose. The baby is believed to be suffering from the birth defect known as ‘cyclopia’, which oginated from the mythical one-eyed creatures in Greek legend and literature.
According to the Saudi Arabian news website,‘the baby was born at private hospital in the north-eastern town of El Senbellawein in Egypt. Doctors think the distortion could be the result of the combination of medicines taken by the mother during pregnancy or from exposure to radiation’.
Dr Ahmed Badruddin, who is monitoring the baby’s condition at the hospital, said that the infant has a full head of hair, large ears and many other deformities on his body and due to which the infant’s condition, he is only expected to survive a few more days.
The tragic picture of the child was released by the family, who are receiving counselling.
