Telangana To Hoist India’s Largest Flag Worth 1.8 Crore

The Telangana government has already started its 2 years celebrations and wants to hoist India’s largest flag erected on the tallest flagpole on June 2nd. The hoisting of the flag should be approved from the Airport Authority of India.
Telangana Cheif Minister K Chandrashekar Rao announced in May that the national flag will be unfurled at the 92-acre Sanjeevaiah Park in Hyderabad to mark the Telangana formation Day.

The proposed height of the flagpole is 303 feet — 10 feet more than the current tallest flagpole pole in Ranchi. The height could, however, be reduced to 295 feet if the AAI raises objections, said government sources. The dimensions of the flag are expected to be 72ft X 108ft.
The top engineer said the flag post will be about 1.8 metres wide at the bottom and will taper to about half a metre on top and “will take care of all wind loads and the dead weight of the mast, which is some 100 tonnes.” The state’s chief engineer Ganapati Reddy said a Kolkata-based firm called Skipper has been given the contract for the mega flag project. The total cost – Rs. 1.8 crore.
