Tadepalli: Former Minister Merugu Nagarjuna has voiced serious concerns over the declining integrity of the police force in Andhra Pradesh, attributing the deterioration to the governance of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Speaking at the YSR Congress Party’s central office on Wednesday, Nagarjuna criticized the administration, claiming that the morale and respect within the police force have been severely compromised under the current TDP coalition government.

Nagarjuna highlighted recent incidents to support his claims, including a controversial event where police officers were seen participating in the birthday celebration of the wife of Chilakaluripet MLA. He also mentioned an incident in Anantapur district, where a Circle Inspector (CI) was allegedly forced to apologize for speaking truthfully, reflecting what he described as the weakening state of law enforcement under Naidu’s rule.

The former minister expressed concern over the sidelining of 16 honest IPS officers by the government, arguing that these actions send a clear message that officials must comply with political directives or face punitive measures.

Nagarjuna also cited instances of violence against YSRCP supporters, notably in Seetharamapuram, Nandyal, where YSRCP leader Subbarayudu reportedly received no police assistance despite being in danger, allegedly due to the influence of TDP leaders and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.
