N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, on the 5th of April, started a protest against the Income Tax (IT) Department and the Central Government at Ambedkar Statue, Vijayawada.

Naidu, the President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) accompanied by the leaders of the TDP, protested against the IT Department and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Central Government for conducting several raids at the properties of the TDP leaders.

Naidu, upset over the actions of the BJP led Central Government, said, the BJP, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) are conducting such raids to harass the TDP members. He said, all such political stunts are a conspiracy against the TDP to defame the Party members, ahead of the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh.

Naidu called for the protest after the Kadapa Police, upon the instructions of Kadapa Superintendent Police (SP,) raided the residence of C.M. Ramesh, a Member of Parliament (MP) of the TDP. The raid was conducted on the 5th of April, at the residence of Mr. Ramesh in Potladutti in Kadapa district.

Naidu warned the BJP, the YSRCP and the TRS members to stay away from the TDP members and not use such tricks to defame the TDP.

Naidu also claimed, with such an attitude, the citizens of Andhra Pradesh (AP) will never vote for the BJP and the YSRCP, in the Assembly and the Lok Sabha elections in AP.

This is not the first time the IT Department and the police conducted such raids. Recently, the IT Department and the Enforcement officials raided the properties of TDP members like P. Sudhakar and Sujana Chowdary.

However, the IT officials and the police did not find any illegal items and cash at their properties.

With a few days left for the AP Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, the IT officials and the Election Commission of India (ECI) are on their toes and are immediately taking action against every complaint they receive against any political party.

Andhra Pradesh will contest a total of 175 seats and 25 seats in the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections respectively. The elections in the State are scheduled on the 11th of April.

The major parties contesting the Andhra Pradesh Assembly and Lok Sabha elections are the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP,) the JanaSena Party and the TDP.

The results of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly and Lok Sabha elections will be declared on the 23rd of May 2019.
