AP CM YS Jagan Meets Central Team Over Crop Damage During Floods

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, on the 11th of November, met with the Central team.

The team led by Union Home Secretary Sourav Roy, visited the district on the 10th of November.

A delegation comprising of Union Rural Development Assistant Commissioner Ayush Punia, Road Transport and Highways Ministry S.E. Shravan Kumar Singh and Union Finance Ministry Expenditure Consultant R.B.Kaul, were also present with the Central team during the tour.

The team visited Andhra Pradesh to inspect the situation of crops, which were damaged due to the recent floods in the State. The team first met with the farmers in Ravulapalem, Podagatlapalli, Jonada and other areas to assess crop damage.

Mr. Reddy along with Nilam Sawhney, the Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh gave a powerpoint presentation on flood damage.

Ms. Sawhney pointed out that crops worth Rs. 6,386 were damaged in the floods.

The State Government asked the Center to provide Rs. 840 crores for temporary relief and Rs. 4,439 crore for permanent rehabilitation.

According to sources, an amount of Rs. 903 crores crops was lost and damage to 2 lakh 12 thousand hectares and costing Rs. 483 crores crops in 24,515 hectares of horticultural lands occurred.

Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy also asked the Central team to provide immediate relief and relaxation on the purchase of wet grain.

In regard to the same, the Andhra Pradesh CM already wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking help to repair the damage caused by the floods.
