Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh government is conducting continuous reviews of public hospitals at the Chief Minister’s level to ensure quality healthcare services. Special Chief Secretary MT Krishnababu has warned of strict action against hospital superintendents and administrators if improvements are not made. On Wednesday, he held a video conference with officials from 256 government hospitals, assessing service quality from the Medical and Health Department office at the Secretariat.
Krishnababu highlighted the results of two public opinion polls, conducted on December 27 and January 7, evaluating six key aspects of hospital performance. He noted a significant improvement in public satisfaction regarding doctor availability, staff behavior, medicine supply, and reduced corruption. According to the IVRS survey, the percentage of patients confirming doctor availability increased from 58% to 84%, while positive feedback on doctor behavior rose from 65% to 82%.
However, concerns remain over hospital cleanliness. The percentage of respondents reporting poor hygiene increased from 33% in the first survey to 59% in the second. Krishnababu urged hospital authorities to take immediate measures to improve sanitation and ensure a clean environment for patients.
