Amaravati: Former Managing Director of Andhra Pradesh State Beverages Corporation Limited (APSBCL) and IRDS officer D. Vasudeva Reddy has been evading authorities for over a month and a half. The CID registered a case against Reddy on June 6th, charging him with destruction of evidence, theft, and criminal conspiracy following a complaint about stolen files, computer equipment, and other important documents from APSBCL’s Vijayawada headquarters. Reddy fled on June 7th after CID officials searched his Hyderabad residence.
Since then, CID special teams have been conducting a manhunt. A look-out circular was also issued to prevent Reddy from leaving the country. While in hiding, Reddy filed a quash petition in the High Court through his lawyers. During the YSRCP regime, the CID discovered that Reddy, along with government leaders, YSRCP officials, and their associates, attempted to destroy key evidence and documents related to a robbery during the power transition in the state.
Despite being transferred by the Election Commission on April 16th over allegations of undue benefit to YSRCP during the election, Reddy has not been suspended. According to service rules, the government has the authority to suspend him, especially considering his prolonged evasion, making the lack of such action surprising.
