The Andhra Pradesh Police is investigating the death of Kodela Siva Prasad Rao, the former Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh (AP) Assembly, which took place on the 16th of September.
According to a recent development, it was revealed Kodela Siva Prasad’s phone is missing since the day he died. The Police also recovered his phone records, according to which, a phone call hours before his extreme step could solve the mystery behind his suicide.
The Police said Kodela made a phone call just a few hours before he hanged himself to death. The Police are also trying to contact the people to whom Kodela spoke before his death and interrogate them regarding his condition at the time.
On the other hand, speaking about the missing phone, the Andhra Pradesh Police said, “The phone is most likely with the family members and might have run out of charge and switched off. It is unlikely to be ‘missing,’ as is being reported. We are waiting for the last rites to finish so that we can contact the family and get physical possession.”
The Police are at the Hyderabad residence of Kodela Siva Prasad, where he committed suicide. The Police sealed his residence and are investigating the property for clues.
Although it is a clear case of suicide, the Police are waiting for the autopsy report, which they hope will give them clarity regarding Kodela’s death, as there was no suicide note written by Kodela.
While the Police are trying to solve the case, the family members of Kodela Siva Prasad and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) are blaming the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) for his death.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also joined the blame game and targeted the TDP. Purighalla Raghuram, the coordinator of the BJP for Andhra Pradesh in New Delhi, addressed the media and said Kodela was not happy with the TDP, hence he committed suicide. Raghuram further said Kodela was also planning to meet BJP leaders in Delhi.
Raghuram said, “I spoke to him around a month ago. He seemed dissatisfied with the TDP and spoke about seeking an appointment with BJP leaders in New Delhi. He recently met a senior leader of the party in Hyderabad as well.” He further added, “We don’t know what was in his heart but he wanted to meet the BJP high command.”
The Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Police coordinated with one another and launched an investigation regarding Kodela’s suicide.
The investigation is currently underway.
