Nara Lokesh, the General Secretary of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) criticised Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and the ruling Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP.)
On the 15th of November, Nara Lokesh addressed the media and lashed out at the YSRCP for attacking TDP leaders. He said approximately 125 families were forced to leave Atmakur, Palnadu, Andhra Pradesh, by the YSRCP.
Mr. Lokesh alleged YSRCP leaders, along with police officers, attacked TDP leaders and workers across Andhra Pradesh and forced them to leave their residences. He further explained the situation of the TDP leaders who are being chased and tortured.
Nara Lokesh said Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is ‘psychotic’ and repeating history. He said in the past, during the YSRCP rule, hundreds of TDP leaders were murdered and now, once again, Jagan Mohan Reddy is doing the same by attacking TDP leaders.
Highlighting one such incident, Lokesh said the State Government is responsible for Karthik’s suicide in Nellore district. Karthik was one of the workers of the TDP.
Moving further, Nara Lokesh spoke about making English the medium of instruction in government schools and said, “I studied in the English medium, I studied in the U.S.A., but I was not in jail for 16 months and not earned the money illegally.”
The comments about making English the medium of instruction were made after the AP Government announced it would convert government schools to English medium schools from the academic year 2020.
The press meet by the TDP was organised on the evening of the 15th of November.
