Hyderabad: A pilot project to issue family digital cards was launched in Telangana on Tuesday by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. The initiative aims to digitize family information and streamline various government services.
The CM ordered a thorough house-to-house inspection to verify family details against existing data in ration cards, Arogyashri, and other welfare schemes. This will ensure accuracy and prevent discrepancies. The pilot project will be implemented in one town and one rural area in each assembly constituency.
Revanth Reddy suggested issuing family digital cards to women heads of households. The details of other family members should be included on the back of the card.
During a review meeting on Saturday, officials briefed the CM on their study visits to Rajasthan, Haryana, Karnataka, and Maharashtra. They presented a PowerPoint presentation detailing the features and benefits of digital cards.
The CM directed officials to submit a report to the Cabinet Sub-Committee by Sunday evening on the necessary details for the digital cards and how to update them. The Sub-Committee will review the report and make necessary changes before finalizing the card design.
To oversee the pilot project, the CM suggested appointing an RDO in rural areas and a Zonal Commissioner-level officer in urban and city areas.
Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Damodara Rajanarasimha, Ponnam Prabhakar, CM’s advisor Vem Narender Reddy, CS Shanti Kumari, and other top officials participated in the review meeting.
