Amaravati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Andhra Pradesh in the third week of April to formally restart the construction of Amaravati, the state’s capital. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is expected to visit Delhi soon to extend a formal invitation to the Prime Minister, according to Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana.

During an inspection of ongoing construction projects in Amaravati on Tuesday, Minister Narayana revealed that tenders worth ₹43,000 crore had been issued for various development works. He highlighted that residential complexes for MLCs, MLAs, civil servants, and officials were nearing completion but were neglected by the previous government, leading to increased costs.

The government has successfully completed 90% of the tendering process for the remaining projects. The infrastructure plan includes 186 bungalows for ministers, judges, and secretaries, along with 1,440 structures for gazetted officers and 1,995 for NGOs. The High Court will span 16.85 lakh sq. ft., while the state assembly will cover 11.67 lakh sq. ft. with a height of 250 meters.

Narayana assured that infrastructure for contractors will be ready within 15 days, and the entire capital construction will be completed in three years. Addressing concerns over funding, he clarified that the project is being financed through loans from the World Bank and ADB, not taxpayer money. Once land values rise, the government plans to sell land to repay debts.
