The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government on the 24th of April, announced to provide the free Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 vaccination to the residents of Telangana.

K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, said the doses of two India made vaccines would be given to 4 crore citizens of Telangana. In addition, people who came to work in Telangana and are residing in the State would also be eligible to take the doses of the vaccine.

In regard to this, the State Government would spend an amount of Rs. 2,500 crores. So far, 35 lakh people have been vaccinated in Telangana.

K. Chandrashekar Rao said, “Money is not important. The lives of the people are important for us. That is why we have decided to give COVID-19 vaccine to all.”

Mr. Rao also directed the concerned senior officials to make the arrangements for the same.

He also assured no shortage of COVID-19 vaccine as the Hyderabad based Reddy Labs and others have come forward to produce it, besides the original manufacturer, the Bharat Biotech.

The State CM also said, “I will convene a meeting on COVID-19 vaccination in next two to three days and monitor the programme personally.”

As of now, KCR is under home isolation after testing COVID-19 positive on the 19th of April.  

Meanwhile, with 7,432 new COVID-19 cases, Telangana now has 3,87,106 positive cases, of which 3,26,997 are recovered/discharged cases, 1961 deceased cases and 58,148 are active cases.
