Telangana reported as many as 3,837 new cases of the Wuhan virus also known as Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19,) in the past 24 hours. 

This is the third consecutive day that the cases reported a decline below 4,000 cases. On the 18th of May, the State reported 3,961 cases of the Wuhah virus.

In addition to the 3,837 new cases, the State reported 4,976 recoveries and 25 deaths due to the Wuhan virus. Recently, after the Telangana Government imposed a lockdown, the State witnessed a dip in the regular cases. Previously, the cases were above 6,000, but it decreased to below 4,000 cases. The top four districts with the highest number of the Wuhan virus are: the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC,) Rangareddy, Medchal Malkajgiri and Sangareddy.

In addition, the Telangana Medical Department conducted 71,000 sample tests in the past 24 hours. In the past 24 hours, the number of single day tests increased by 9,000. Between the 17th and the 18th of May, the Telangana Health Department conducted a total of 62,000 sample tests for the Wuhan virus. With this, the State has so far tested 1,42,67,002 samples.

The updated data of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) was released through a media bulletin. On the night of the 18th of May, the Telangana Health Department released the bulletin and updated the figures of the COVID-19 data. According to the released bulletin, currently, Telangana has 5,40,603 positive cases, of which 46,946 are active cases, 4,90,620 are recovered/discharged cases andand 3,037 are deceased cases.

In addition, Telangana has a recovery rate of 90.75 % and the fatality rate is at 0.56 %.
