Anupam Kher through a tweet confirmed that he would be donning the role of the former prime minister of India, Manmohan Singh. This role will be for the cinematic adaptation of The Accidental Prime Minister: The Making and Unmaking of Manmohan Singh, by Sanjay Baru.
Baru is the former media adviser of Singh and provides an insight into the Indian politics. The book was released before general elections on 2014 and has been discussed time and again by experts. It also gives detailed information about the UPA Prime Minister Singh and all the controversies of prominent Congress leaders.

The first look of the movie was released on Wednesday and is all set to release in December 2018, few days before the 2019 general elections. Sunil Bohra, the film’s producer said the movie will involve political drama equivalent to the Academy Award winning Richard Attenborough’s Gandhi. None of the cast members have been confirmed yet, apart from Anupam Kher.
Speaking to a popular news daily, Bohra said, “The research on the movie is already over. Auditioning for the remaining cast is in its final lap. The movie will hit the screens next year.”
The movie will be directed by Vijay Ratnakar Gutte, this will be his debut with the megaphone. National Award winner Hansal Mehta has written the screenplay for the much awaited movie.
