BJP To End CPM 20 Year Rule In Tripura

The BJP is likely to end the two decade rule of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Tripura. BJP along with its new regional ally National Democratic Progressive Party is leading in Nagaland as well. The Congress party is leading in Meghalaya but might gain the majority.

In Tripura BJP along with partner, the Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) are leading in 41 seats in Tripura. BJP alone is leading in a total of 34 seats in the State. BJP will need to win in 31 seats to win a majority and overthrow the CPM Government.

BJP Leader Ram Madhav said, “It is a historic verdict. We will wait for final results but we believe we will form Government with 40 plus seats.” Madhav credited this upcoming victory to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP Chief Amit Shah.

The BJP Party will hold a discussion with its Parliamentary Board for the further course of action. Biplab Kumar Deb is the nominated candidate for Tripura’s Chief Minister position.

BJP Leader Madhav predicted Meghalaya will not have a majority party. He further stated with the help of BJP’s Northeast strategist Himanta Biswa Sarma would work towards forming a Government in the State by making alliances.

In Meghalaya, BJP’s regional allies National People’s Party (NPP) and the United Democratic Party contested separately. A post poll alliance is likely to be announced once Congress fails to get a majority. This way the smaller parties will join together with BJP to get a majority and form a government.

In Nagaland the BJP and ally the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) have taken a lead over the Naga People’s Front (NPF.) The BJP and NDPP are leading in a total of 31 seats. The NDPP head Neiphiu Rio was unopposed for his seat in Northern Angami II after his opponent withdrew his nomination. BJP was initially allied with NPF but the ruling party withdrew their alliance just before the elections. The ruling party decided to find a friend in NDPP and the decision seems to be fruitful.
