Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha has called for the immediate implementation of the Kamareddy Declaration regarding Backward Classes (BC) reservations. Highlighting the inaction of the state government, she criticized the lack of progress on suggestions provided by various BC associations and intellectuals. Kavitha submitted a formal petition to Busani Venkateswara Rao, Chairman of the Dedicated Commission, in Hyderabad.
Addressing the media later, Kavitha expressed her concerns about the functioning of the dedicated committee for BC welfare. “The Congress-led government has been in power for 11 months, but the dedicated committee is yet to receive a special office, adequate human resources, or necessary equipment to operate effectively. How can the committee work independently without these basic provisions?” she questioned.
She also raised doubts about the reliability of a caste census report being prepared within a month. “Legitimacy is crucial. The Congress government must address issues surrounding reservations. Even in Hyderabad, 70% of households are yet to be accounted for, and 90% of housing data remains uncomputerized. The government must clarify its stance and provide answers,” Kavitha demanded.
Her statement underscores the urgency for structural support and transparency in addressing BC reservation issues.
