Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi will be on a two day visit to Telangana to kick start his campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the State.
Mr. Modi will reach Telangana on the 29th of March and will be there till the 1st of April. He is scheduled to address two public meetings, at Mahbubnagar and Hyderabad in Telangana.
Dr. K. Laxman, the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Telangana, said, “Ahead of the ensuing Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a public meeting at Mahbubnagar tomorrow and Hyderabad L.B. Stadium on April 1.”
Mr. Laxman further said, the citizens of Telangana are eagerly waiting for Mr. Modi to come, especially after the recent airstrikes carried out by the Indian Air Force (IAF) on the Jaish e Mohammed (JeM) camps.
Apart from Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, the President of the BJP, will also conduct public rallies and roadshows in Telangana, starting from the 4th of April.
After the Telangana Assembly elections, which were held on the 7th of December 2018, this is the second time the BJP members will visit Telangana and hold public rallies.
In the 2018 Assembly elections, the BJP contested 119 Assembly seats and lost the elections, whereas the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) won with a majority of 89 seats.
The TRS is a strong party in Telangana with the highest number of MLAs, in comparison to the opposition parties.
While K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR,) the President of the TRS, is confident about the TRS winning the elections, it would be interesting to see if the BJP can win against the TRS in the Telangana Lok Sabha elections.
Telangana will contest a total of 17 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, scheduled on the 11th of April.
The major parties contesting the Lok Sabha elections are the TRS, the BJP and the Indian National Congress (INC.)
The results of the Lok Sabha elections will be announced on the 23rd of May 2019.
