Hyderabad: The Telangana Assembly has unanimously approved a resolution introduced by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, condemning the central government’s perceived injustice towards the state in the Union Budget. The resolution criticizes the central government for discriminatory practices and demands a revision to allocate appropriate funds to Telangana.
Chief Minister Reddy emphasized that, according to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s vision of federalism, the central government is responsible for the fair and inclusive development of all states. He accused the center of neglecting Telangana’s needs and failing to uphold promises made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act. Reddy highlighted that this unfair treatment has persisted since Telangana’s formation.
Despite repeated appeals to the Prime Minister and Union Ministers for financial aid and resolution of pending issues, Telangana’s requests have been ignored, leading to significant dissatisfaction. The resolution asserts that the central budget must be amended to address these grievances and ensure justice for Telangana.
The BRS party fully supported the resolution, while BJP members walked out in protest. The Assembly’s decision underscores growing tensions between Telangana and the central government regarding budget allocations.
