Jilekha Bi, a teacher at a private school, was arrested, on the 16h of February, in Shivapura, Karnataka, after she expressed support towards Pakistan for the Pulwama terror attack.
Ms. Bi allegedly posted a message on her social media account, saying, “Pakistan ki Jay Ho (sic.)”
She posted the message on her social media account after the Pulwama terror attack took place on the 14th of February. The attack, led by the Jaish e Mohammad (JeM,) killed 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans.
According to the police, Jilekha was arrested on Saturday night, after she posted the anti national message and supported Pakistan. The message triggered a protest, with outraged locals and youth gathering outside her house. The protestors threw stones at her house and tried to set it on fire. However, police reached the spot and arrested Jilekha and the protestors.
On the 17th of February, she appeared in a local court and was ordered to will remain in the custody of the concerned Magistrate until the next hearing.
India is mourning the loss of its jawans’ lives, with people holding candle marches and protesting against Pakistan for the terror attack. The Pulwama attack is said to be even deadlier than the Uri attack, which took place in 2016.
