A 22 year old man from the city was arrested by the Hyderabad police on Monday. The police arrested him after a video of him firing multiple gunshots in the air went viral.
Mirza Ibrahim was celebrating his birthday on May 5th and decided it was a good idea to shot gunshots in the air as a way of celebrating.
Mirza is reported to be an MBA student and in the video that went viral, it clearly shows him firing 12 rounds from his revolver.
“We booked a case against the man after coming across the video in social media. We booked a case against him under the Arms Act. We will take action against the owners of firearms also. Their license can be canceled if it is found that they allowed others to misuse their weapon,” said ACP at Falaknuma, Tajuddin.
Mirza was initially on the run but the police caught up with him and he was arrested.
K Babu Rao, South Zone Additional Deputy Police Commissioner said, “Whether licensed or not, a weapon cannot be used without need and use of it in public place is also banner under the Arms Act. We have registered a case against him under the Arms Act. His interrogation may give us clues about the others involved. The weapon owner will also be booked.”
Another case happened last year in August when an Army man was arrested. It was reported that the man consumed alcohol, celebrating his son’s first birthday and fired four rounds in the air with his licensed pistol.
