Guntur: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Speaker Raghurama Krishnam Raju has announced his decision to write to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), demanding an inquiry into a ₹48 lakh payment made to Kamepalli Tulsibabu, who allegedly worked as a legal assistant in CID cases despite not being a practicing lawyer.
Raghurama visited Guntur District Jail on Wednesday to provide a Section 164 statement before a judge regarding his custodial torture case. Speaking to the media, he alleged that Tulsibabu, who is also an accused in the custodial torture case, was appointed as a legal assistant on October 6, 2020. However, official records show that Tulsibabu was only registered as an advocate with the AP Bar Council in October 2021.
The Deputy Speaker claimed that within three months of his enrollment, Tulsibabu received ₹48 lakh from the CID for handling 12 cases. He alleged that this payment indicates a close connection between Tulsibabu and former CID chief Sunil Kumar. Furthermore, he pointed out that while 12 CID cases were listed for trial in the High Court, no actual trial took place.
Raghurama accused CID officials of misusing government funds and vowed to expose corruption in the department.
