
Machilipatnam: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu called on citizens to join hands in making the state a “Swachh Andhra Pradesh” by 2029. Speaking at the ‘Swachata Hi Seva’ program on Gandhi Jayanthi, Naidu emphasized the importance of sanitary workers, urging people to respect them as “Swachh servants” for their vital role in maintaining cleanliness.
The Chief Minister personally interacted with and served tea to the sanitary workers, appreciating their efforts, especially during the recent cyclone. He credited them for maintaining clean roads and a healthy environment across the state.
In his address, Naidu highlighted Mahatma Gandhi’s role in the Satyagraha movement, which began in Krishna district, and paid tribute to Pingali Venkaiah, the designer of the National Flag. He announced that Andhra Jateeya College would be named after Venkaiah.
Naidu also committed to removing the garbage tax, with plans to clear garbage statewide within 365 days. He criticized the inefficiency of the previous government during the Budameru floods and promised to strengthen security measures through CC camera installations.
Additionally, Naidu announced plans to provide free cooking gas cylinders under the Deepam scheme and supply safe drinking water to all households by 2027.
