Amaravati: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has called for significant reforms in the Andhra Pradesh education system, emphasizing the need to provide quality education with strong values. During a review meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, he stressed that the government’s expenditure of ₹32,000 crores on school education should yield tangible results at the grassroots level.
The CM directed that the curriculum be updated to align with future needs, advising that experts, intellectuals, and industry leaders should be consulted in the process. He emphasized the importance of preparing government schools to compete with private institutions and instructed officials to focus on infrastructure improvements rather than promotional campaigns.
Education Minister Nara Lokesh presented new policies and reforms, highlighting the implementation of the “one teacher per class” policy and the reduction of unnecessary burdens on teachers.
A presentation was also given on the state’s ambitious skill enumeration program. Officials explained that there are 3.54 crore working-age individuals in the state whose skills need to be assessed. The program, expected to take eight months, will involve 48,000 enumerators conducting surveys through various channels. The CM urged that this initiative be coordinated with industry representatives to ensure its effectiveness.
