Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has assured full cooperation from the state government to expedite the construction of the Central Girijan University at Kuntinavalasa in Mentada mandal, Vizianagaram district. The announcement was made during a meeting with Vice-Chancellor Prof. T.V. Kattimani and Dean Prof. M. Sarat, who briefed the CM on the progress and challenges faced by the institution.
The Centre has sanctioned ₹800 crore for the project, out of which ₹340 crore has already been released. Spread over 561 acres, key infrastructure like administrative buildings and academic blocks are currently under construction. The Chief Minister directed that all building works be completed within a year and assured support for approach roads, drinking water, and power supply to the campus. He approved the construction of approach roads in a 2-km radius immediately.
Highlighting a shortage in teaching staff, with only 18 out of the required 100 positions filled, Mr. Naidu pledged to write to the Prime Minister to expedite faculty appointments and invite him to the university’s May convocation.
Originally established in 2018 during the TDP regime, the university’s progress stalled under the previous government. Now, with over 600 students enrolled, the CM emphasized timely construction and skill-based education to enhance student placements and meet industry demands.
