Amaravati: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu announced a comprehensive plan to revitalize state universities, promising to fill all vacant teaching posts and improve academic standards. Speaking at a review meeting on higher education at the State Secretariat on Tuesday, Naidu expressed concern over the previous government’s mismanagement of the education sector.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need for short-term and long-term programs to strengthen public universities. He also urged the promotion of national and international private universities to boost job opportunities in the academic sector. He instructed officials to resolve legal issues hindering the recruitment of faculty and to issue notifications for filling backlog posts.
The state has 48 universities and over 2,000 colleges serving nearly 19.29 lakh students. Naidu proposed forming a specialist committee to review international best practices and recommend changes to the curriculum.
In addition, Naidu approved the establishment of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) university under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The Chief Minister stressed the importance of improving global standards in Amaravati’s proposed Sports Village.
Education Minister Nara Lokesh and other officials attended the meeting.
