
Amaravathi: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu paid rich tributes to the late media baron Ramoji Rao, praising him as the only person who consistently followed public interest in the business sector. Speaking at a large-scale event in Vijayawada on Thursday, Naidu highlighted Rao’s unwavering commitment to moral values, even in the face of harassment.
Naidu called for Ramoji Rao to be posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor, recognizing him as a luminary and inspiration for Telugu society. He announced that a main road in Amaravathi and the Chitra Nagari film city in Visakhapatnam will be named after Rao, honoring his contributions across media, business, film, and social service sectors.
Accompanied by his wife Bhuvaneswari, Naidu attended the event, visited a photo exhibition, and paid floral tributes to Ramoji Rao.
Naidu revealed that Ramoji Rao suggested the name Amaravathi for the state’s capital and announced the establishment of a Ramoji Knowledge Centre in the city. He expressed gratitude for Rao’s contributions and promised proper recognition from the state government. The family of Ramoji Rao donated Rs 10 crore for Amaravathi’s development, presenting the cheque to Naidu at the event.
