Kakinada: Reliance Bio Energy Limited is setting up three compressed bio gas (CBG) units in the Peddapuram Industrial Area of Kakinada district. The first unit will commence operations on April 2, while the other two are expected to be operational by May and August 2025. The project, spanning 60 acres, is being developed at an estimated cost of ₹375 crore.
Officials stated that once fully operational, the three units will produce 67.53 tonnes of compressed bio gas daily. Minister Nara Lokesh will virtually inaugurate the ₹114.20 crore Unit-1 from Divakarapalli, PCPalli Mandal. The project is being implemented by GPS Renewables, with key executives including Senior Vice President Vamsi Krishna, Reliance Operations Manager Viswanatharaju, and Production Operations Representative Srinivas attending the Ugadi celebrations at the plant site.
The CBG plants will utilize agriculture, aqua, and commercial waste from Kakinada, East Godavari, and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema districts, including paddy, maize, sugarcane, palm oil residues, flower gardens, and cattle dung. Each unit is expected to create 70 direct and 200 indirect jobs, contributing significantly to the region’s employment and sustainable energy production.
