Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker Ayyannapatra criticized YSRCP MLAs for signing the attendance register without participating in the Assembly proceedings. He stated that the MLAs were sneaking in like thieves, marking their presence, and leaving without engaging in discussions.

The Speaker questioned why legislators, who hold respectable positions, were resorting to such actions. “People elected them to raise their issues in the House, not to merely sign the register and disappear,” he remarked, urging them to set an example.

Highlighting specific instances, Ayyannapatra revealed that YSRCP MLAs Y. Balanagi Reddy, Tatiparthi Chandrasekhar, Regam Matsyalingam, Virupaksha, Matsyarasa Visveswara Raju, Akepati Amarnath Reddy, and Dasari Sudha signed attendance sheets on different dates after the Governor’s address on February 24 but were never seen in the session. Even when a written question on the Green Co project in Kurnool was taken up for discussion, the concerned MLAs were absent.

The Speaker further noted that 25 important questions went unanswered due to their absence, depriving other members of the opportunity to debate. He condemned this practice and questioned whether government employees could receive salaries without attending work.

Janasena MLA Konatala Ramakrishna demanded that the issue be referred to the Ethics Committee, a proposal Ayyannapatra agreed to review for strict action.
