New Delhi: Delhi Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar on Tuesday resigned after the court sent him to a four-day police custody. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal accepted his resignation. He was arrested on Tuesday morning and produced in the court in an alleged fake degree case. He was remanded to police custody by the court for four days.
The police said that he was required to be taken to Bhagalpur in Bihar and Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh to ascertain his qualification. The police also told court that the educational certificates of Tomar were fabricated.
The investigating officer told the court that an enquiry was conducted based on a complaint given by the Bar Council of Delhi (BCD). An FIR was lodged after collecting reports from the concerned universities.
On the other hand, the advocate of Tomar said that police arrested the AAP leader without compliance of the provisions of the law. He also added that no notice was issued to the minister prior to the arrest.
